![]() In order to get to your new home in the snowy wilderness, you must choose a team of dogs, each canine with their own personality, skills, and cute little story arcs, to take you there. I also suggest The Red Lantern, in it you basically play as a city girl who left her job as a doctor (or something similar) and you move to what looks like the Yukon in Alaska. Like one might have a lot of rabbits or wolves you can hunt and fight or the next version of the first island might have a lot of dandelions and other materials you can craft some basic gear with. And this game is sort of procedurally generated because besides the starting area, the first "islands" you get are always different each run. It's a bit hard to play at first but you can eventually get the hang of it and each run feels easier than the previous. I'm not exactly sure if it's "cozy" but flames in the flood is a good game where you play as a little girl named Scout who finds a dog named Aesop (or Daisy if you choose the female dog as a companion) and you two explore a flooded campground area, crafting things and eating and surviving the weather. You can also tame creatures, such as ladybugs and they are super cute. The environments are gorgeous and there are even occasional storms where you need to seek shelter (I'm a sucker for games where you hide out in cosy bases during storms). The survival elements are fantastic - interesting recipes to cook and eat, and the base building is some of the best I've seen (and even better after you unlock the three types of materials). You can set the difficulty right down and even hide the spiders with arachnophobia mode. Insects are as big as horses and trees are like skyscrapers. ![]() You are a tiny fey-type person, living in an oversized world. Smalland: I'm addicted to this one right now. The music is great and the game is really polished. ![]() No eating mechanic, but oxygen needs to be managed early game, and you forage for crafting materials. The base crafting is fun, but it lacked some of the nice elements of other more cosy games.īeyond existing recommendations, two additional ones I'd recommend are:Īstroneer: Super cute sci-fi survival with no enemies (only some infrequent dangerous plants). I modded the game to make the caves brighter here and there, but the creepy body parts and weird noises was not very relaxing, in my experience. I just wanted you to be aware that the majority of that game is about hunting around creepy dark caves (even if you disable the enemies). Just a heads up about The Forest as well. The pacing also made it inherently stressful for me. Don't Starve is very popular, but I struggled with the impermanence of the game. Agreed re Subnautica, raft and Stranded Deep (Subnautica and raft are the more polished of the three). There have been some great suggestions on here. I don't super-often return to games but this one I've played through three times so far and there will likely be more. And you get to build up your base to improve everyone's quality of life, unlock things like farming and the likes (true for Dinkum too, btw) and the gameplay just feels smooth. It is, however, one of the most fun exploration games I've ever played. > It's not heavy on the survival, but there is combat. It is very much AC in the outback, just with a bite that actually keeps it interesting to gather materials and explore.Īlso, depending on how cozy you like it, Stranded Sails might be worth checking out. > you get to explore a huge island, build up your town, up your skills, everything you've described. ![]() "sharks are the bane of your existence"), base-building with the really enjoyable twist of the whole thing needing to be a movable vehicle in some way, your typical survival mechanics (hunger, thirst, stamina), a really fun story and lots of exploration.Īlso worth checking out - Dinkum -> more cozy than survival but don't let the "It's Animal Crossing in the outback" fool you - run into the wrong critter at the wrong time and "cozy" is now spelt as "holy fuck that killed me so fast i just cant" Hunger's a mechanic in this one too. With Raft you get: Game mode customization that allows for you to really pick your level of cosy (i.e. I was going to suggest Raft too - or Dinkum. ![]()
